Bridges of Reality – Focus on a Continent

Cinema is a threshold. Every image opens a breach between what is lived and what is imagined.

For its 6th edition, Marrakech Short Film Festival presents Bridges of Reality, a documentary program curated by Alex Moussa Sawadogo (General Delegate, FESPACO) that brings together sixteen short films from across Africa and its diaspora. Together, they trace the multiple bridges between visible and invisible worlds – where memory, territory, dream, and identity intersect, and fragmented realities meet.

The selection moves through shifting cities, family memories, social borders, inner landscapes, and uncertain futures. These films do not seek to define a single truth; they reveal the many layers of a contemporary reality still being written. Through its condensed, unguarded form, the documentary short allows for a rare intensity – capturing the fragile moment when one reality tips into another. Here, cinema becomes an emotional, political, and poetic bridge.

Bridges of Reality screens over two afternoons – Monday, September 28 and Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM – at the Institut Français de Marrakech (Salle Léila Alaoui).
