Marrakech Short Film Festival (MARRAKECHsFF)
THIRD EDITION 2023
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
After the success of its second edition, the MARRAKECHsFF returns for its third edition
enriched with new programs. The date of the festival will take place, as every year, at the
end of September.
This call for applications is addressed for directors of short films with a length between 6
and 25 minutes, all genres combined. Intended for Moroccan and international directors,
the call for applications is open until March 31, 2023, available on the festival’s website.
The festival has three selections: the Moroccan selection, the international selection and
the guest country selection, with a prize list dedicated to Moroccan films with three
awards, best director, best cinematography and best actor/actress. A coup de cœur prize is
awarded one of the movies from the international selection.
The return of the call for applications comes with the launch of the LOW BUDGET FILM
PROGRAM, which is a program dedicated to helping Moroccan filmmakers from previous
editions of the festival.
The objective of the Marrakech Short Film Festival is to be an event focused on the short
film industry, the LOW BUDGET FILM PROGRAM is one of our actions to achieve this
objective by supporting the development of the Moroccan short film industry .
In partnership with Chaoui Production and under the mentoring of producer Lamia Chraibi,
we will select two or more of our alumni’s projects each year to be developed with them.
This program will support filmmakers from A to Z in their filmmaking process, providing
them with technical, financial assistance and mentoring.
For its 2023 first edition, the LOW BUDGET FILM PROGRAM will accompany two alumni of
the 2021 edition of the festival who are: Jihane Joypaul and Karim Tajouaout.
