Marrakech, the land of Behja, embraces the international film industry at the upcoming MARRAKECH SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
The fifth edition of the Marrakech Short Film Festival will take place from September 26 to October 1, 2025, reaffirming Marrakech’s status as a leading hub for cultural and artistic encounters. Rooted in its deeply Marrakchi identity, the festival opens more than ever to the international stage this year, celebrating exchange and creative diversity.
A resolutely international spirit
This edition places strong emphasis on cooperation and dialogue between cultures. Several international guest platforms will join the festival to present their selections and connect with Moroccan audiences. Among them are prestigious partners such as the Locarno Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), ZINEBI Bilbao, the Alexandria Short Film Festival, La Luna Productions, the Polish Film Institute with the remarkable presence of former Minister of Culture in Poland and one of the founders of the Polish Film Institute, Waldemar Dąbrowski (in collaboration with the Polish Embassy in Morocco), as well as Digital Factory Studios, within the framework of the International Incubator Program in partnership with the Spanish Embassy in Morocco.
The Marrakech Short Film Festival thus positions itself as a unique crossroads between Morocco and the world, offering a space where perspectives and stories converge, reinforcing Marrakech’s vocation as a land of creativity and hospitality.
An international jury
The 2025 edition is honored by the presence of an international jury composed of renowned figures from leading festivals and institutions:
- Assaad Bouab, actor and filmmaker, Jury President (France/Morocco)
- Jane Kim, Producer of Industry Programming – Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) (Canada)
- Rubén Corral, Head of Programming – ZINEBI Bilbao (Spain)
