The Marrakech Short Film Festival (MARRAKECHsFF) returns for a second unprecedented edition under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, with the same commitments:

  • Create bridges between the short film industry and the city of Marrakech.
  • Promote the short films of Moroccan as well as international talents around a competition program.
  • Set up a platform promoting the short film production industry.
  • Highlight the heritage of abandoned cinemas in Morocco.

 

On the initiative of its founder Ramia Beladel, the MARRAKECHsFF will take place this year in Marrakech from September 23 to 30, 2022. In open-air spaces, the public will enjoy the screening of a wide selection of films in mythical places of the ocher city, namely: Badii Palace, Arset Moulay Abdeslam, The Source Hotel , Dar Cherifa and Mbacha. The second edition of the festival will welcome Palestine as guest of honor with an important selection of short films in partnership with the Palestinian Film Institute in collaboration with the Embassy of Palestine. With a rich and diversified program, the MARRAKECHsFF will offer an international selection represented: Germany, Armenia, France, Greece, Italy in partnership with the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Center in Rabat, Israel, Poland in partnership with the Polish Embassy and the Munk Studio Polish Filmmakers Association, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.

The Moroccan selection will include ten films including six in competition with the participation of renowned directors and actors such as: Malika el Omari, Mohamed Khouyi, Said Bey, Azelarab Kaghat, Jalila Talemsi, Salwa Zahrane, Mansour Badri etc… The Marrakech Short jury Film Festival will be chaired for its second edition by actress Asmaa El Khamlichi assisted by photographer Saad Tazi and visual artist Younes Atbane.

The MARRAKECHsFF program will also include conferences and master classes with Franco-Moroccan producer Lamia Chraibi, Moroccan director Daoud Oulad Siyed, Croatian director Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic (Caméra d’Or Festival de Cannes 2021 for Murina, a film produced by Martin Scorsese), Egyptian producer Muhammad Taymour (Palme d’Or Short Films Cannes 2020, a first for Egypt). Without forgetting the guest of honor: the Palestinian producer, May Odeh

The 2nd edition of the MsFF is conducted in partnership with: The Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, Maroc Telecom,  The Moroccan Cinematography Center, The Regional Direction of Cultural Affairs of the Marrakech-Safi region, The regional investment center of the Marrakech-Safi region, with the Grand Atlas Association.
